Scholarships

Daryl Paustian Scholarship

The Daryl Paustian Development Scholarship recognizes officials that value the importance of personal growth and development in their officiating avocation by attending officiating camps each year. The EBOA awards up to six (6) $250 scholarships to officials in good standing that have attended camps in the past year.

Application details:

  • The application period for this scholarship will begin on February 1 and end on June 30.

  • Members will submit via email to the Director of Administration the required documentation including:

    • ​Name and contact information of the development opportunity

    • Dates of the opportunity

    • Confirmation of full payment

  • Applications meeting the requirements will be approved on a first come first serve basis until the designated funds are exhausted.

Angie Celino Scholarship

The Angie Celino Education and Development Scholarship recognizes high school and post-secondary student officials who shown dedication to their officiating avocation and to acting as a positive ambassador for the EBOA. Each year the EBOA awards up to four (4) $250 scholarships to members in good standing.

Application details:

  • The application period for this scholarship will begin on February 1 and end on June 30.

  • Members will submit via email to the director of administration the required documentation including:

    • Name and contact information of the development opportunity

    • Dates of the opportunity

    • Confirmation of full payment

    • Confirmation of enrolment in either a secondary or postsecondary institution.

  • Applications meeting the requirements will be approved on a first come first serve basis until the designated funds are exhausted.

Dave Buffie Scholarship

The Dave Buffie Mentorship Scholarship aims to provide financial support to a younger official committed to their development. Each year the EBOA will award one (1) $500 scholarship to an EBOA member in good standing.

Application details:

  • The application window for this scholarship will open on September 1 and close on September 30.

  • Members will submit via email their application to the director of administration.

  • Members must be 22 or younger as of Sep. 1.

  • Applicants will submit a maximum 300-word essay including the following topics:

    • The official’s current season officiating goals.

    • The official’s future officiating goals.

    • Provide an example of how they have been a positive ambassador for the EBOA.

    • Demonstrate / explain their financial need.

  • All applications will be provided to the family of Dave Buffie. Dave Buffie’s family will decide which applicant will be selected to receive the scholarship.

  • Fund for this application will be disbursed by November 15.
